Heading to Red River on the 28th and unfortunately right now there are only 17 trails open. Anyone know if that is normal for this time of year? Thanks!

Nope. Terrible year across the Rockies and not much relief in sight. 24 inch base and 28% open.

Good news: 4-8 inches expected between now and Monday.

Bad News: 43 degree high tomorrow, 40 degree high Wednesday - Friday, and 35 degrees Monday/Tuesday.

That could easily be a sub 20 base by next week.

Just opened up the backside today. Thankful for that! Most of the mountain relevant to my kiddos is now open.

Red River has some of the best snow-making setups so they should be able to maintain some decent main runs. Problem is people will come from Taos and Angel Fire for the day if the conditions are bad on those mountains.

Angel Fire is at 25" and 1/3 open (think that TSV is around the same) so not much different than RR.

I love northern NM but these conditions seem to be the norm rather than the exception for Christmas there, usually not cold enough to sufficiently build the base until later in the season. 3-4 years ago there was epic snow that probably had all three mountains 100% open by Christmas but that was unique.
