Cruise departing next week. Starting in Rome with six ports en route to Barcelona, where we'll remain for several days. Anyone been on a wintertime Mediterranean cruise before? Looks like temps will be high 40s to low 60s. Will these be similar at sea? The Viking ships are smaller, ours with passenger capacity of 990. How should a boat of that size handle the rougher seas this time of year? Any other thoughts/advice on Viking? The have a great reputation but, to our disappointment, already changed one advertised port, and eliminated another altogether.

I haven't personally cruised Viking. I have people who love them, but more often when given several options, they end up choosing something slightly nicer with a similar price point. The changing of ports is very common unfortunately and can happen with any cruise line. I hope you have a great time!!

We did a Viking river cruise on the Danube this past summer. Best vacation ever. Service is impeccable. My sister did the same Viking cruise in the Mediterranean you mentioned and she said it was fabulous. We're going on another Viking cruise next year to the European Christmas markets.

JMac, do you know what to expect in terms of rough seas in the Mediterranean this time of year?

It can be rough or choppy at times. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Just pack some meds in case.
