My wife and I are planning an anniversary trip in early June. I was originally planning on Banff but I work with several folks from Calgary who have suggested Kelowna as well. My wife will enjoy the scenery in the Banff area but she is not going to be interested in any hard core hiking as she likes a relaxing pace on vacation. I don't know a ton about Kelowna other than it's known for wine and the lake. Looking for some input. Would 2-3 days in each be enough or should we pick one and spend the who time there? We are planning on 5-7 days including travel.

There are a lot of low-intensity hikes in the Banff area. For example, the "hikes" (if you can even call them that) at Johnston Canyon and Marble Canyon are not really hard at all. You can also easily walk around most of the perimeter of Lake Louise and it's pretty much flat. Moraine Lake isn't really a hike, either. I think the only one that is might be Peyto Lake, and I don't remember that being hard at all. Basically, you can hit all of the beautiful sites without doing anything strenuous.

It is a fair amount of walking. But it's not strenuous.

Thank you, how much time would you schedule for the Banff area?

We've stayed there a full week and not run out of things to do. But you can hit the highlights in 3 days.

For one thing there isn't really any skiing in June in Banff. My wife and I went in early June several years ago and did all the hikes we wanted to. Albeit some trails still had some snow on them. Not bad though.
