Seems like a much better option for anything in Playa del Carmen and south. AA is offering flights there for my time window in late May. Staying at the Grand Hyatt.

Honestly, it's really not great if you aren't going to Tulum or Akumal or Puerto Aventuras. We live here part time and it's about a 45 minute drive from Tulum Airport to our house in Aldea Zama and probs at least hour and a half and that's w no traffic on Avenida Tulum to PDC. So, it's 2x as far as ASUR. Cancun is a much shorter drive to Puerto Morelos and PDC (maybe 35/40 minutes). I'd say Tulum is about 1/2 way to PA and a little closer than Cancun if you're going to Akumal.

Don't book it thinking you're close to Tulum. It's kinda the same MCI to KC. It's a SOLID 40 minute drive.
