Need help on what areas to stay/avoid in Columbia, SC. Looking at Airbnb's.

Thank you.

Do you guys even Google Maps? Charleston is great… and it's two hours from the stadium.

If you insist on not staying in Columbia, consider Camden. 45 minutes on I-40, and has some cool Revolutionary War sites and museums. Go to Charleston on its own trip.

We've always stayed in Charleston. The roads are good. Getting out of the area after the game is a pita though.

Greenville is great, eat at the Chop House on the River. The GM is a former Clemson player. His brother is the GM of the one in Columbia and played for South Carolina.

Have you ever been to a game at South Carolina? If not, just be forewarned that the stadium is a s***hole, the game day presentation is abysmal, the fans suck and they have the worst tailgate scene in the SEC. We went in 2016 and had an awful experience even though we won. The only good part of the trip was staying in Charleston.

Charleston is not near Columbia. Would be like saying stay in South Houston to watch a game at Kyle.

My daughter resides in Greenville, so I am there several times throughout the year. In fact, driving down there Sunday.

I could not agree any more with your thoughts on the matter.

I went to SC a few years ago and enjoyed it. Stadium is old and a walk from campus, but it was fun and the tailgate seen was unique with the cabooses. I stayed here: which was a bit out of town, but nice.

This x100

The tailgating is useless. Huge parking lot. Hot. No trees. Awful "bbq".

The fans suck. They must be burned by years of crappy SEC East fans, bc they are the least inviting, most unenjoyable fans to be around.

Did I enjoy our trip? Yep...but only bc we stayed in Charleston, drove in for the game (11am kick), then drove out to Kiawah for a week.

This isn't an exaggeration. Going to a game at SC is only fun because it gets you into the state of South Carolina. There is zero to enjoy about the game day experience.

We enjoyed our trip there, but beware, the stadium is not on campus and the traffic (especially if it is during the state fair) is brutal. We walked...but it was a very long walk.

I enjoyed staying in Charleston, but we made the trip over and back on gameday on a bus with other Aggies. Don't know if I would enjoy doing that if I was the one driving.

I'm going to Columbia for baseball next month, so I'll get a chance to check it out for the first time.
