My wife and I are taking our kids and my parents (my dad is of 100% Slovenian descent) to Slovenia for 3 weeks to tour the small towns my dad's parents and grandparents are from as he has never been and is getting up there in age.

During our visit, my wife and I will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and I was looking for any recommendations on a nice place to surprise my wife with for dinner. We will be near Ljubljana, so I would assume anywhere within an hour would be acceptable which opens up Trieste, Italy or Lake Bled as possible options. My parents are already in on watching the kids for us that evening while I take her somewhere.

I don't have much to add other than my sister and BIL (both Aggies) own the Krka River Lodge outside of Ljubljana. Fly fishing b&b on the river with a restaurant.

Lots of nice places along the river in old town of Ljubljana. Shouldn't be hard to find a nice place.

This place has all handicapped servers and the food is phenomenal. It's a great atmosphere and a great place to make a memory
