Alright TexAgs. Honeymoon coming up in April. Me and the fianc can't decide where to go, hence why I'm here and it's this late in the game.

We're torn between the pacific, probably Bora Bora, and Europe (possibly the Azores). She's also mentioned Norway or Switzerland.

We like to hike, sight see, eat good food. We also like to swim, snorkel, hang out on the beach. A real conundrum.

What are y'all's thoughts? What would you do?

This April? You're all over the globe with those places. I would honeymoon in Port Aransas and y'all figure out a great place to go.

April 2024, as in a few weeks from now? Best to get with a travel agent and book a quick trip to an all-inclusive in Mexico for some relaxation. Then take time planning a well thought out trip in 2025. That way you will have it well researched instead of something thrown together last minute.

All inclusives in Mexico aren't Mexico.

I hope this comes across as helpful. Are you speaking of April 2024 or April 2025? As a travel advisor I would love to help you narrow down the destination you are looking for and get you a honeymoon taken care of. There are key things to think about, budget, interests, pace of travel and such. If you need help my contact info is in my bio.

Firm but fair.

Guess I should provide some more context.

1. We are not all inclusive people
2. Mexico is at the very bottom of my list
3. Plan to have kids within the next year, so postponing isn't an option

That being said we are very good at making our own itineraries. One of our favorite trips was doing a Campervan in Iceland. We did this same last minute decision thing last year, and had an amazing trip in Croatia. I've done many others alone. We enjoy the flexibility of an open ended trip.

In his post. That's where...

All inclusives are a total and complete RIP OFF. We live in Tulum part time and are in the process of moving down full time and the running joke around town w the locals is that the purpose of all inclusives is to keep the overweight Mid-Western and Southerners off the local beaches and out of the local restaurants. Which seems to work quite well honestly. We live directly across from the new Sandals in Tulum and Im still mid blown that people pay what they ask. You could pay our mortgage with one night at the hotel a month and the only thing you're getting that we don't is a free shuttle, a meal plan, and access to their pools. It isn't even close to the beach...

The entire Riviera Maya has gorgeous beaches. But, from personal experience, most of the Zonas Hoteleras from Cancun to Tulum aren't on the nicest beaches. They are beautiful, but a small excursion into the real world and you'll find much much better.

Wife and I did two weeks in campervan in NZ and 1 week diving with sharks in Fiji. Amazing trip and would highly recommend it.

That sounds amazing, that's on my bucket list. I'll make it one day but I'll save that for a time where we have 3 weeks or so.

Go somewhere tropical with beaches/hiking.

It's your honey moon, you want some relax time, not a jam packed trip you can do any other time of your life. Pick one activity a day and enjoy each other the rest.

No other trip, especially wanting kids soon will ever be like that again.

Signed married dude with kids who usually isn't great at relaxing.

We did something like 4 nights in Fiji followed by 8-10 nights in NZ, I can't remember exactly. Don't let the haters get you down about timing. I planned ours in late November for an early Jan honeymoon and it was perfect. We did work with a travel agent that was recommended on here and I'll say he had some awesome ideas for NZ that we wouldn't have thought of. If you're interested I'll dig his info up but it's been a few years.

Costa Rica is do-able for a quick trip and that is the ending of the dry season.

Fly into Liberia and you have several beaches too within an hour of there. My favorite up there is Playa Conchal. Day trip or a few days in La Fortuna/Rio Celeste as well for waterfalls/hanging bridges/thermal springs and hiking.

We love Costa Rica, went there last July. We will probably go again this summer. Thats our backup plan, but we finally settled on the Azores.

Congrats and best of luck on whatever you choose.

Some newlyweds once told me to keep the honeymoon simple and go on a big trip sometime within the first year. That plannig and doing that right after all the hullabaloo of a wedding was tough. We ended up going somewhere about 3 hrs drive for a week after the wedding, just chilled mostly. We purposely left cell phones behind, just brought a camera. Then on our 1 yr anniversary we went to Europe. I don't regret anything.
