Looking at doing a 40th birthday trip to San Diego in August.
We were thinking about staying a couple of nights in La Jolla and a couple of nights in Gaslamp. Probably stay at Pendry when we're in Gaslamp.
Any recommendations for hotels at La Jolla? Any other recommendations would be appreciated!

If you have never stayed at Hotel del Coronado I would recommend for sure

It's not La Jolla but L'Auberge Del Mar just north of there is a great place to stay. Easy walking to nearby restaurants, etc.

We enjoyed this place. Have a good on-site restaurant and lots of stuff walking distance. Also right on beach. Easy drive to la Hoya and back to downtown

Grande Colonial in La Jolla is nice.
We stayed in one of there apartment units, not the historic hotel. Location was great, everything is walking distance.

That said, we enjoyed Coronado on that trip more than La Jolla.
