Got back this week from four days in Santa Fe. Quick report:
We stayed at La Fonda on the Plaza. Great location, obviously, and a hotel with a lot of history. Room was small but comfortable. The hotel restaurant, La Plazuela, is pretty good -- we ate there a couple of times out of convenience and weren't disappointed. Staff throughout the hotel were welcoming and helpful.
We had dinner one night at Estevan. Unfortunately, it was the last night of Restaurant Week in Santa Fe so they had a pretty basic prix fixe menu. I loved the atmosphere but the service was lacking.
We had reservations at Coyote Cafe but switched at the last minute to Coyote Cantina because we weren't in the mood for a fancy dinner. The Cantina was great ... good southwestern-style menu.
Unfortunately, our dinner at Sazon -- which everyone told us we would love -- had to be canceled due to an injury in our party. I was really looking forward to that one so missing it was disappointing.
We had lunch at The Shed twice (TexAgs recommendation). Great service, delicious food, and close to the hotel. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would eat there regularly.
Herve wine bar was an unexpected surprise. Beautiful building and they offer a nice menu along with the LesCombes wines. We also did a tasting at Gruet.
Of course, lots of shopping and art gazing. We also did a tour of Loretta Chapel to see the Miracle Staircase; went through the Georgia O'Keefe Museum (which was a little disappointing) and shopped along Canyon Road. And we drove up into the mountains to Santa Fe National Park.
All in all, Santa Fe is a great getaway. I've wanted to go for a long time and wasn't disappointed.
