Thinking about going to Belize to fly fish in late July. Never been. Any reccs on places to stay or guides? Is that a good time of year to go? TIA

That is my favorite time to go. Check out tflats.com. Turneffe flats. This is a week long fish only option but the area and lodge is awesome. Their atoll adventure program for non anglers is too notch. This is not a sit back and do nothing place. It will be hot but July is the best time to catch all species

I had the opportunity to experience Casa Blanca Fly Fishing in Punta Pajaros, Quintana Roo and it was amazing as well. Truly a fly fisherman's paradise. I highly recommend.

If you visit the web site, it mentions Jaguars…. I actually was able to observe them feasting on a green turtle …. From afar

The Mayan ruins also was incredible
No mention needed about the fishing… world class

I second Turneffe Flats. They also have a top notch dive operation.

Turneffe Island Lodge is also a very good option, but will be more upscale. I've been to both, and will go back to both.

I have fly fished Belize many times.
Usually out of San Pedro. Have a guide rec if interested. Good guy.
I recently went to Copal tree Lodge. Near Guatemala border. Very cool, but remote (not much besides fishing).
Saw more Permit than I have seen in 20-30 trips to San Pedro.
