My first question is how long is your visit? That's a lot of long distance Intra-European travel. Hoping more than 2 weeks. That's also a very long train ride between Zurich and Lake Como. But you will get to see the beauty of Switzerland and the Swiss-Italian Alpine region.Diet Cokehead said:
Any recommendations on things to do/places to stay in any of these places? Traveling business class with a 7-year old son. Will be his first long haul. Trying to find things he will enjoy doing along the way. We are meeting family in Zurich and then taking the train down to Como so he'll have a blast with that. Milan looks a little boring for a kid. Any recommendations for Madrid?
London: Hilton Bankside or Hilton Park Lane
(Double decker bus, Big Ben, Changing of guard, London Bridge, London Eye)
Zurich: Störchen Zurich Weinplatz, 2 - 8001 Zrich, Switzerland
Lake Como: Grand Hotel Imperiale Resort & Spa Via Regina, 24 Moltrasio (CO)
Milan: Hotel Dei Cavalieri Milano Duomo
Madrid: Atocha Hotel Madrid or Hotel Montera Madrid
(Bold hotels are already booked. Others aren't set, but where I'm leaning)
I have only stayed one night in Zurich, so cannot offer much help other than visiting Lake Zurich.
I have traveled to Milan several times. Milan is largely industrial and not as scenic as most major Italian cities. But maybe take day trips to Turin or Bergamo. I see that you are staying near the Duomo, so the adjacent plaza and shopping areas are good for starters.
How are you traveling between Italy and Spain? I ask because the luggage penalties are quite severe for Intra-European flights.
It sounds to be a very exciting trip, with lots of memories to be made.
