Howdy all,

We are flying to Caymans Saturday with a 615am departure flight from airport. What time is advised to get there to get through security on time for a Saturday morning?

TIA

We fly out on Sat as well. I still use the 2 hour domestic and 3 hour international rule of thumb....I've never missed a flight but I've been really close before.

This Sat will be he first day of summer for a very large majority of elementary, middle school, and high school families so not a day I will be testing the limits

You are boarding at 530. Precheck/clear arrive by 5, otherwise 430

What is your parking situation? If you haven't pre-booked parking, I would do so. It was a complete **** show on 12/26, with every lot sold out (airport and offsite) except one, and they were charging $50/day (whereas everyone else 'surge' pricing was like $15-$16).

Are you checking a bag? Absolutely a minimum of 60 minutes before the flight your bag must be checked. I would be getting there probably between 4-4:15AM if it were me. But we normally get there early.

AUS can really be a mess with early morning flights. Though I think early on Saturday will be less crowded than on a Monday morning. I say arrive no later than 4.

AUS recently funneled all precheck/clear passengers to one security checkpoint. the others are all general boarding. I really don't understand the move and I expect it to be a ****show during the summer travel season.

If you are checking bags and do not have priority status including precheck, I would get there 2+hours early to avoid the lines.

Thankfully we have priority and precheck but still get there early since holiday weekends and early flights can be chaotic. So 6:15 we get there at 4:15 and have no issues but have seen lines to check luggage etc already.

If you are flying on the United flight, Pay/ check your bags ahead of time so you can just show Id and do bag drop instead of waiting in line at the counter. The lines in Austin apparently vary widely, but when I went through the precheck line tuesday afternoon a couple of days ago, I was the only one in the line.
