We (wife and 2 girls, 6 and 3) fly out on BA on 2 weeks. We currently have not paid for an assigned seat as it would cost an additional $600 for all 4 legs. I know BA wouldn't have the girls sit by themselves, whether it be both girls with one parent or each parent with a kid, but what is y'all's experience? Is it worth spending the $600 to ensure we sit together, or is BA pretty good at trying to make it work?

I did try calling BA a couple times, but their call volumes are so high you couldn't even wait on hold or leave a call back number.

We just flew BA 3 weeks ago with our 3 kids. Did not upgrade the tickets, and they sat us all together without me having to say anything. I did sign up for their rewards program which allowed me to check-in for the flight a little bit earlier. Don't know if that helped any or not.

Haven't flown BA with the family, but when in similar situations on other carriers, I go to the gate counter upon arrival and they open the back row which seems reserved for situations like this.

Prepare to have delayed arrival of your luggage. BA luggage handling is a disaster.

They will almost certainly put you and girls next to one another.

Thanks for the heads up! We already planned to have a few days clothing for everyone in the carry on bags.
