Hoping to take a dream trip this winter and see & ski Austria. We'll fly into either Vienna or Munich and try to sight-see both Salzburg and Vienna and then ski a few days.

I'm hoping someone has some recommendations on where to ski with 4 adults. We're looking for lots of easy / moderate slopes and a fun village for dinner & drinks.

I skied Kitzbuhel about 10 years back and it was great. I stayed outside of town, but I think if you stay in Kitzbuhel it'll be exactly what you're looking for. It is very economical and the skiing was fantastic if you like steep slopes. It makes the biggest North American resorts seem small. I can't wait to go back.

Am I correct in that Kitzbuhel is in the Tyrol region and there are lots of sister slopes you can also ski on?

Can't go wrong with Kitzbhel (in Tyrol). A little closer to where you'll already be may be the Schladming/Dachstein area, southeast of Salzburg.

Kitzbuhel then go down and ski the Sella Ronda. Sella Ronda is s skiing bucket list.

We did the Matterhorn a few years back. Absolutely amazing

Yes that's correct. You could ski there 2 weeks and not ski the same run twice.

Thanks!

Trip of a lifetime. We also skied Garmisch in Germany.

Are y'all seasoned skiers? If not, I'm not so sure European Alps skiing will be much fun. Runs are poorly marked, there's only 3 rating systems, and they don't groom that much.

Also, IMO, the mountains are harder to navigate than many US Rockies places that are basically a base or 2 and then lifts going straight up.

You could easily get off on the wrong run or lift, and end up somewhere you don't need to be.

That being said, it's awesome and a completely different experience than skiing in the US.

If you want groomed runs, do the Italian Alps. And google the Sella Ronda. Those would be 2 days of a lifetime skiing it clockwise and counter.

2018 was a good year. We skied in 5 different countries that year. Then… children
