Howdy, just touching base to see if anyone has insight into Crested Butte in late October. I know this is in between summer and winter seasons so I am curious about how much of the town/restaurants/shops are open. I have looked about on the internet, etc. but just curious if anyone has boots on the ground knowledge about this time of year. The wife and I are looking for a quiet mountain town weekend so we are okay with not everything operating at 100%, but would still like to eat at some restaurants, have coffee, etc

I can't speak specifically to CB, but we've been to both Aspen and Breckenridge in October and have really enjoyed it. Try to hit the aspens in early-mid October.

Yes, there will be a lot of restaurants and shops that are closed or have limited hours, but minimal crowds and excellent weather are worth it. You should still be able to hike/bike then too. Just expect some closures or limited hours, but there should still be plenty open for you to enjoy.

Like other person mentioned, try to go early to mid October but Colorado in the fall is one of my favorites!

You would be better this year with mid september as that is the expected peak of the fall color season and the aspen grove in CB is the world's largest living organism.

I have been in mid to late October. It is usually pretty cold and a lot of things and restaurants are closed.

I love CB but honestly the time between when the leaves fall and when the snows fall is pretty bleak

Not all restaurants will be open, but there will be plenty of options. Weather will be pretty chilly and there very well might be snow on the ground or at least a snowfall during your stay. Fishing should be pretty decent.
