My wife and I are soon to become parents and are wanting to take our little one on her first trip at the end of March/beginning of April.

In your own experiences, where has been a good place to go with a 6 month old on a vacation in the spring time?

Coming from someone that has traveled extensively with my girls since they were around 6 months old. They are 9 and 10 now.

I first would ask are you wanting to drive or fly to a destination?
If you are flying I would first recommend a non-stop morning flight.

There are so many places in the US or a short 2 hour flight away that are baby friendly. If you are looking for help to plan my contact info is in my bio

Yes most definitely fly but a nonstop from Midland is going to be tough so I'm ok with a layover somewhere.

If you get a chance send me an email and we can set up a travel consultation call or here is the link to do so. A short layover in Dallas would be simple for sure.

We've taken all of our kiddos on trips when they were little babies. When they each were about 6-months they went with us to Mexico - Riviera Maya. Was great for a relaxing vacation and naps can be done on the beach or in the room! So much more to do than pushing a baby around in a stroller all day. I agree on the early flight advice as well.

infants are much easier than toddlers.

We took our 6 month old to aruba, it was a piece of cake.

This also depends on the child. Nothing really ever phased both of our boys, and they slept really well really early on.

Your success or failure traveling with an infant will depend largely on you and your spouse's flexibility, patience, and management of expectations. I'd recommend your first trip be short and logistically simple so you can get comfortable with managing that aspect together.

As far as where to go, pick something you and your wife enjoy, beach, snow, whatever. Your activities will be centered around and limited by the infant and his or her schedule.

We did Beaver Creek for our first trip and had a blast.
