Our kids are 7 and 10 (both girls) and love to travel and love country music. We are thinking about taking them to Nashville in February to experience all the music there and also go to a concert (Cody Johnson). They have been to several big concerts so that part isn't an issue. I know we can do the whole Broadway thing and some of the other less crowded music venues off Broadway during the day some but what else is there for kids? Has anyone taken their kids this age and if so did they have fun?

We have been to Nashville several times but never with the kids.

The Gaylord Opryland is neat to walk around and they usually have activities. When we travel, we always visit the local college campuses so our kids can think about the future and run around a bit.

The Andrew Jackson Hermitage is pretty cool, although I'm not sure how cool for fairly small kids.

We went in July with my 10- and 13-year-old boys. They are not big country music fans, but the older one really enjoyed the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Ryman can be toured as well. Look into the tour pass. You get a number of experiences for a cheaper price. We enjoyed the open-air city bus tour.

To be honest, axe throwing and Puttshack (I think) were two of their favorite things to do.

There is a cool place called Pins Mechanical that has mini bowling- I think they call it duckpin bowling or something. They have a lot of old style arcade games and swings. We had a good time there and there were plenty of kids, but they are only allowed up to a certain time of day…7ish. There are lots of good ice cream places but a newer one is called Wanna Spoon in 12 South. It's an ice cream and cereal bar. We intended to go but never made it. Looks like a fun place. There are a few cool murals in that same area that make for fun photos.

The Parthenon at Centennial Park is a full size replica of the original in Greece. Don't eat at any of the restaurants at the Gaylord Opryland as they totally SUCK. We had a corporate, week long sales event there and every restaurant was horrible. Adventure Science Center is supposed to be pretty cool. There is an abundance of great restaurants in Nashville. Use Yelp and you can't go wrong. "Etch" is one of our favorites. Their menu fluctuates as they are a farm to table establishment. There are lots of places like Etch.

Thanks for all the recommendations! We have Pins Mechanical on our list and a few of the others mentioned. We are all booked and ready to go!

Puckett's is a great family friendly restaurant.

My kids loved the Grand Ole Opry and if you are really country music fans, a tour is good.

The Station Inn is family friendly. One of the oldest music establishments in Nashville. On Sunday nights we attended one of their Blue Grass Jams and it was very authentic and good. http://stationinn.com/events/
