Besides the Traveling Aggies what are some other good options to see Normandy? Would also like to spend a few days in Paris. Looking for dates in April and later.

When you're going in to Normandy, be sure to stop by the large white barn looking shop and get a bottle (or two if you'd like to bring one back for me) of the apple brandy or apple spirits…. It is incredible good! We went to Normandy/Point du Hoc,etc. without a group or guide and had zero problems.

If you don't want to drive and do it yourself, take a train to Bayeux and hook up with either one of the small bus tours (Overlord is probably the most popular) or, if you can afford it, hire a private guide that will drive you (or provide a driver). Some of the guides prefer you to provide the car and drive, so not getting a car might limit your options, but there are are several different ways to get it done.

ETA: there are tours that run out of Paris, but the time spent getting there and back limits what you will see. Spend a couple of nights in Bayeux. It's worth it.

We were just there in June, after spending a few days in Paris. Rented a car to get there and back to Paris, but barely used the car while in Normandy.

Rented an Airbnb in Grandcamp-Maisy and rented bikes that were delivered to the apartment and cycled to our hearts content. Also hired some local guides for some day trips. I'll post a link to my "trip report". Feel free ask any questions if you see something that interests you. We were there about 5 days, were never bored, and didn't get to do everything we wanted. I could have easily stayed 2-3 more days.

We also did a motorcycle sidecar tour that was probably the most fun tour/excursion I've done on any vacation. Tons of fun riding on the back of a motorcycle through the Norman countryside.

There are several tour operators that offer Normandy sightseeing tours from Paris and they can all be tailored to exactly what you're looking for. I'm actually working this week with a couple of fellow TexAgs on a Band of Brothers experience starting in Paris and heading into Normandy in May 2026.
If you're not currently working with a travel advisor, my contact info is in my bio I'd love to help you plan.

We used Dale Booth. He was an exceptional tour guide. We spent a half day In Bayeux before the day of the tour, checking out the town on our own. We then spent all day with Dale touring the US landing sites. We finished up at the American cemetery in time for Taps. I'd recommend him to anyone heading out there.

We have booked our tour to Normandy with Viking Cruise Line. Will start in Paris, but before , we will go to London to see the significant WW 2 history then take the train to France. A 12 day journey. Will be going in early May.

Just rent a car and go. Normandy is super easy to navigate and they treat Americans great. I spent a month there studying abroad and there's still stuff I didn't see.

Also, in my opinion Paris is a city that you don't over plan. The charm of Paris is just walking the streets, eating great food, and popping in a museum every once in a while. If you try to cram all of Paris into a couple days you'll run yourself ragged and end up hating the city.

If thr Churchill Warrooms isn't on your London itinerary you must see it if you're a fan of WW2 history. It's one of the best museums in the world.

Wife and I did this trip in 2023 and started our tour in Arromanches. Stayed in a cool BnB there a block off the water. It's a cool little walking town. You can still see the lots of the artificial port created there at Gold Beach and they have a D-Day museum that was really good. Drove to Normandy from there and then Pont du Hoc.

I was in the first group in '92. When did you go? That was so fun!
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I am one of the 2 Aggies Harrington Travel is referring to. Our tour she is setting up for us starts in Paris, Normandy for 5 nights I believe, 2 nights in Bastogne (which was very important to me) and 4 nights in Munich with a trip to the Eagle's Nest.

The trip also includes a drive through Luxembourg and a stop at the American Cemetery, where Patton is buried.

I wanted several days in Normandy so we could take in St. Mere Eglise also.

My dad went ashore on Utah Beach and then fought through the Battle of the Bulge earning a Silver Star. My Aggie friend, who I have known since we were kids as I mothers grew up together, his dad "flew" a glider behind enemy lines 2 days before D-Day and then fought through the Battle of the Bulge.

Wives are staying home and this is a guys' WW II trip. Should be fun.
