We're trying to do the 50 states thing with our kids.

We're thinking Wisconsin for this June. I know the Dells is touristy but they'll love the water parks and other fun things to do there.

Anything else we should definitely do in the area or not miss from those that have been, know the area?

Thanks.

Baraboo is just south and is the hometown of Ringling Brother's Circus. They've got a park but I've only driven by.

Go further north to any of these areas...

Hayward
Eagle River (big area)

Much more rural Wisconsin charm...less Branson of the north. True northwoods experience.

Rent a side by side, tons of old rail trails. Lots of fun small towns with bars and good people. All ages welcome. Rent a lake house and just relax.

In that area...

Cave of the Mounds is a little south of the Dells, just a bit outside Madison. https://www.caveofthemounds.com/

The House on the Rock is also just south the Dells and is one of the most unique places you'll ever see. Hard to explain it, but always throw it out there as a thing to do. I don't know how old your kids are or what they're interested in but take a look at the different exhibits/collections and maybe it'll be something they'll enjoy if you plow through some of the exhibits they won't like so much. https://www.thehouseontherock.com/

Witches Gulch is really neat and something I'd do if I'm in the Dells area. Wisconsin has quite a bit of interesting natural attractions. https://www.travelwisconsin.com/things-to-do/attractions/tours-and-excursions/witches-gulch

Wisconsin at its best in the summer, especially if you live in Texas or another hot place, is probably Door County up north. Beaches, cool state parks, little picturesque towns, etc. It therefore gets busy over the summer but I don't find it to be overwhelmingly crowded. But the Dells and that area is certainly a good time, too.

If choosing between the Dells and Door county I'm taking the latter

Madeline Island Is our favorite spot outside of Madison. Excellent in June. Not the best time for fish, but you can get a charter and catch monster lake trout. Beautiful beaches and warm water in the Apostle Islands. 2+ hour sun rises and sun sets.

I echo this. My in laws live very close to Eagle River. Can't go wrong in the Northwood. Eagle River, Minocqua, etc. Kids tend to love the lumberjack shows, ski shows, etc. No shortages of lake activities. Most small towns have breweries.
