Hey friends. Does anyone have any thoughts on the various resorts outside Austin/San Antonio.

My wife and I are traveling for the first time with our 8 month old and trying to find something driving distance (we are in Dallas).

Have honed in on Hyatt hill country as they have homes you can rent which seems pretty nice for having a young child. But would be open to any other ideas.

Not expecting too much but wife is really needing to get away for a couple of days and wants to lay by a pool.

What about Hyatt Lost Pines?

I do love the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country but that's San Antonio.

We have done Lost Pines a few times and my kids love it, but it's definitely for them & not for mom & dad. The food is overpriced and I have not been impressed with the quality.

I'd say Hyatt Hill Country or La Cantera. For basically an adults getaway with a baby I'd pick La Cantera, the food is really good IMO and your 8mo isn't old enough for activities or kids clubs.

If you want to do something different, I highly recommend Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs. Beautiful rooms, recently renovated spa, excellent food. The pool deck has a great view. They have cottages on property or you can book my favorite room, The Folly Suite, and you could easily put a pack n play in there.

Happy to answer questions or help if needed!

Down the road from Hyatt Hill Country is Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch. It is one of Hyatt's timeshare properties, but non- owners can rent any of the available rooms/condos. There are studios with a king sized bed and small sofa bed
and small kitchenette-sink, mini microwave and small dorm sized fridge. They also have 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units with full kitchens, laundry, and living area. There is an indoor pool, and outdoor pool with water slide, and a lazy river with cabanas and man made beach. There is a kids club and activities going on throughout the day. There is one sit down restaurant on site. You can also pick up to go food there. They used to let guests of the two resorts go back and forth between the two resorts via a Hyatt shuttle van Not sure if they still do that or not. We have stayed at Hyatt Hill Country, Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch, Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, La Canterra, and the big Marriott in SA. For us, the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch was the best option when our 3 kids were young When you do not have school aged children, always shoot to visit these type of resorts in May before schools get out for summer break. Or go the last week of August through mid September. Thee will be low occupancy and it makes for a peaceful vacation. For us, having the indoor pool saved several of our trips when it rained all day on several days of our visit. We also liked that the lazy river at Wild Oak Ranch was away from the busy pool with slide. And having a full kitchen was a lifesaver when dealing with bottles, baby food, etc

Hyatt Hill Country, have you seen their new pool/lagoon? It's incredible.

Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch - we love this place. We are owners and live in SA, but still go their multiple times a year. Our kids love it and the space is nice. As owners we get access the the Hyatt Hill Country amenities which is a huge plus, but not sure they allow that for non-owner rentals. If so, Wild Oak would be a no-brainer.

We were at Hyatt Hill Country over spring break with our older kids. We had a great time. There were tons of families with toddlers and younger.

Thanks everyone! Ended up booking Hyatt hill country in one of their new villas. Wasn't cheap but since it is our first vacation with the kid we thought a house like set up would ease our stress a little bit and help us get everything situated.

Appreciate everyone taking the time to respond!
