I am booked to spend 7 days at the Bahamas. All I have currently is flights and hotel room, staying at the Hyatt In Nassau.

Just looking for some recommendations. It will be me and my 12 year old daughter, she is actually turning 13 while we will be there. I haven't looked into it, only heard of pig island.

Assuming you are staying at the Baha Mar, it is a beautiful property. It's got a nice waterpark, marine sanctuary, flamingos, etc. You mentioned the swimming with pigs. The resort is on a beautiful beach.

Maybe look into Blue Lagoon Island for a day.

Just know food/drinks will be pretty pricey at Baha Mar. There should be some other options at Cable Beach, and there are some supermarkets about a mile away. Not sure how big the mini-fridge would be in your room. They do have local public busses that are cheap that stop right outside the resort.

What is the best way to get around? Car rental? Google says there is no uber, lyft or Turo. Only taxis.

I've been wanting to go to Bimini for some time now, to go dive with the sharks, fish and stay at https://biggameclubbimini.com/

And it looks like Bimini has an amazing beach.

But the rib doesn't have it high on her list…

It is the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. I think there is also a Baha Mar, which is a Hyatt property. I am assuming that is the same thing.

I will look into Blue Lagoon, probably plan a day there like you said.

After reading your post, I decided to rent a car. I typically go to the local supermarkets, a pretty big sandwich guy when we travel.

Thank you for your time and direction.

Interesting, never heard of Bimini.

About 6 years ago, I spent about 5k on scuba diving gear, with the full intention of learning how to scuba dive. Shortly after the purchase, I became overly busy with work and life stuff that came up and never was able to get started scuba diving. One of my regrets, especially after looking into Bimini.

I bet they are. After reading your question though, I decided to rent a car. I went to Tobago years ago, and was warned against taking the taxis. I enjoyed driving around.

I guess I wonder if they have doordash?

It is not a major diving destination. In fact, it's probably not much of a diving destination at all. But they do have really clear water, and the Gulf Stream which brings in a lot of pelagics and big sharks. And they have a good fishing. If you are thinking Caymans, Bonaire, Roatan, etc, that's not what Bimini is.

How did you spend 5k on dive gear? That's lot! What all do you have?

Solemar was a great restaurant not far from Baha Mar with great waterfront views. Recommend.
