no but, any must eat places or must go places? staying in copley square this weekend. never been to bean town.
Can't go wrong with the North End. Take the Orange or Green Line to Haymarket. anyplace is good and I like walking around there in the evenings.
Let me think about it and I will try to give you some more suggestions on places to go and eat
Edit to add some suggestions:
I actually don’t know of a lot of places around Copley – I just don’t eat there that often. Let’s see…places to eat. Personally I think that Legals is overpriced and overrated and plus it is a chain. That is where many people will tell you to go for seafood but I say avoid it. If you want seafood I’ll get some other recommendations for you. I tend to eat seafood at places on the North Shore which can be a bit of a hike out of Boston. Union Oyster House is not bad but it is kind of touristy.
North End (it is Italian food)…I know several people that love Giacomo's but the wait will be long. Trattoria Il Panino is nice. Pagliuca's Ristorante is also really good but the service is hit or miss.
Harvard Square...I like Grendel’s Den or Fire+Ice.
My favorite sports bar in town is probably The Fours (near North Station/TD Banknorth Garden). Cask and Flagon is kind of cool. I love the atmosphere around Fenway so if you are any kind of a baseball fan I recommend going down there even if you don’t have tickets just to see it. If you want to try to get tickets there is a no scalp zone near the Ted Williams statue that is monitored by Red Sox staff.
If you want an Irish pub experience then go to Doyle’s in Jamaica Plain (a neighborhood of Boston).
If you see Mexican and/or Tex-Mex advertised then avoid it. It will be awful. Generally speaking same rule applies to BBQ.
Things to see…in Copley there is Trinity Church. I also think that the Old South Church across from the Boston Public Library is something to see. There is an observation deck at the Prudential Center. The Duck tour is a good overall tour of Boston but how good it is completely depends on the driver so it is a matter of luck. You can catch one from the Prudential Center. Of course there is the freedom trail. The USS Constitution is under renovation so I am not sure if it is open right now – it is on the freedom trail.
If I get the chance I will try to add some more
