I will be traveling to Boston in September for work and was wondering what are all the sites you guys recommend who have been there. I have never been so I am clueless. I would like to go down to Fenway one night when they are playing and grab some dinner and soak in the atmosphere, see harvard, but other than that...I need some help!

The Fanueil Hall area is pretty neat. Just wandering around downtown (like around Boston Common and that area) is pretty fun. You never know when you'll come across a tiny graveyard with graves dating from before the Revolution. Lots and lots of history there.

Go to the North End and just walk around one evening and have supper there. It is Italian food. Giacomo's is good but the wait will be long. Trattoria Il Panino is nice. Pagliuca's Ristorante is also really good but the service is hit or miss. Go to Mike's Pastry after you eat for desert.

My favorite sports bar in town is probably The Fours (near North Station/TD Banknorth Garden). Cask and Flagon is kind of cool too. I love the atmosphere around Fenway so if you are any kind of a baseball fan I recommend going down there even if you don’t have tickets just to see it. If you want to try to get tickets there is a no scalp zone near the Ted Williams statue that is monitored by Red Sox staff. I also think that the Fenway Park tour is really good but it is best when the Sox are on the road.

If you want an Irish pub experience then go to Doyle’s in Jamaica Plain (a neighborhood of Boston).

If you see Mexican and/or Tex-Mex advertised then avoid it. It will be awful. Generally speaking same rule applies to BBQ

the Duck boat tours are fun. they are a good overview of the city and some of its history. but how good they are depends on how good a driver you get so there is a bit of luck involved.

Faneuil Hall as was already mentioned. Obviously the Freedom Trail.

I will give it some more thought and try to add more later

Go to Modern Pastry instead... that is where the locals go... Mike's is for the tourists.

Go to Boston Beer Works (there is one by the Garden and one by Fenway)too. Great beer and burgers.

Definately go to a game if you can, second the tour as a fall back.

Google Boston Duck Tours. Buy tickets in advance, they sell out quickly if it is a nice day.

The Sam Adams tour is free and worth doing if you have some time to kill.

The Customs House will let you go to the top (great view of Boston) around 2:15 pm (I think) for free.

There is a ton of stuff to do.

I'm a local but I actually prefer Mike's to Modern Pastry. to each their own I suppose.
