My brother ('03 Ag) is graduating from medical school in TX and beginning his Ophthalmology residency at St. Johns in Madison Heights this June.

He has never been to Detroit/Madison Heights (or MI in general) and is looking for any help on where to live, where to avoid, normal tips/tricks/advice on living in the area.

He would be moving in the first week in June and is looking for an apartment, townhome, whatever to rent. I'm not sure of his price range, but imagine it is in the practical range. As a residenthe's not likely to spend a ton of time at home or pull down that much money.

I would say just avoid MI in general. I can't wait to get out of here.
