I saw there are a few of you Ags on here that live in Memphis and Nashville areas. We are headed that way for a few days and want to eat good local food. Any suggestions on yummy BBQ joints and dives around town? We sure appreciate it.

I hear Corky's BBQ is really good- I have never been though.

There seems to be a type of BBQ called "Memphis Rub" that is all the rage in TN so I assume it is really good. i do not eat BBQ much but I have been to Rick's BBQ and it is good.

Anothere place people like alot is Slick Pig BBQ. But I will never eat at a restaurant with "Pig" in it's name. Maybe that is just me.

I've had Corky's a couple of times here in Nashville already (first time was my choice, 2nd time was catered) and was less than impressed, even for dry rub.

Where exactly will you be when you're in Nashville? I can recommend a couple of places, one would be a drive.

el aggie -

I am Agism's husband. The plan right now is to arrive in Nashville Thursday night and stay there until Saturday morning. We are planning to catch the early show at the Bluebird Cafe on Friday night. The rest of the day Friday is open for whatever, sightseeing, etc, We will be staying downtown.

If you have some spare time, and don't mind driving, I'd recommend driving the Natchez Trace Parkway from where it starts near the Loveless Cafe (somewhere you should really really eat breakfast) down to Leiper's Fork. Stop in at Puckett's Grocery (also a restaurant) for some barbecue, and then drive back along Old Hillsboro into town.

Also, if you like outdoors stuff, then on the way back make a detour to Radnor Lake and hike to or around the lake.

If you're a country fan, you may want to stick closer to downtown, and see if you can tour the Ryman Auditorium, and get in the Country Music Hall of Fame. In that case, you should still make the trip to the Loveless Cafe on Friday for breakfast. It's a pretty drive to get there, and you may even eat enough to not have to worry about lunch.

Thanks! We will definitely add those stops to our list. We'll see how many we can hit. And how much food we can eat.

I was in Nashville a couple months ago. The food was pretty good, but I was also slammed and didn't really care what it tasted like.
