Just moved to Covington! Anybody know of any duck leases/places to fish South of New Orleans or around Covington? Gig 'Em!

Howdy and welcome to Covington. I have been in Covington for five years. I will ask my neighbor about duck hunting. I think that most of it is south of Lake Charles and Lafayette.

Hey, I was born and raised in La. From my experience they have a lot of duck hunting around your area. If you have a boat your pretty much set.

Sorry in the delay in responding. I finally talked to my neighbor this weekend. He said that the best duck hunting areas close were Honey Island NWLR in Pearl River (but it will be overrun w/ a lot of people) or the Manchac area off of I-55. He said that the best areas were South around Venice and Grand Isle or West in the rice fields around Rayne. He had some crazy stories about duck hunting.

You ever go out to Tallow Creek to practice on clays?

As for local clubs. There is a New Orleans chapter. You can find the info on the Association website. The Northshore is a loose knit bunch of Ags that has a Muster every year.

Do not know of anyone offhand. Pick up a Louisiana Sportsman at Academy or a gas station, check the classifieds in the Times Picayune and also Craigslist. Also go by that Sportsman's shop on the 190 bypass loop. They may have some good info.

BTW, I am trying to get a game watching party together for the Arkansas game next Saturday if you are interested, just give me a shout.
