How long do you want to ignore this user?
I will be living and working in downtown San Diego for 10-12 months. I'd like to know a little about the different areas of the city and pros/cons of each area. I'm single, 27, and looking at 1BR apartments. Any advice would be appreciated. It would also be helpful if you had any specific apartment recommendations. Thanks!

Do you want to live in downtown? How long of a commute are you willing to make? Are you focusing on work or do you want to live the single life too? Do you speak spanish?

I don't mind living downtown, but I would also be willing to commute 15-20 minutes. I will probably just be focusing on work for the most part since I'll only be there for a year. I don't speak spanish.

If you're only willing to do 20 minutes, you're probably gonna have to live in the San Diego city limits. I live in North county and am not too familiar with that area. I wouldn't go any farther north than La Jolla. Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach area might be do-able, but the commute might be a deal breaker. You could look into going south to Imperial Beach. I have some friends that work at MCRD, which is right where you want to be. I'll give them a call and see if I can get some more info for you. Do a google maps search and look at the area around there and the sports arena. If price isn't an issue, there's always condos for rent around the gaslamp
