There is a job opening with my company up there, it is like an hour north of Portland/Vancouver. Seems like a nice town on paper, but seems to have a crime/meth problem. Has anyone been through/lived in that area? I have family in WA/ st and in Northern and Idaho so I know about the weather and would actually prefer the seasons/cooler weather to the Texas weather. TIA

I live in Vancouver about 30 mins. south. My company had a job in Clatskanie last year and I drove through Longview a few times a week. The industry used to be logging. It's a pretty poor town. But it has a few spots of "charm" to it when it comes to parks, etc. The populace in general is unmotivated and uneducated. Thus, the meth problem you mentioned.

My girlfriend grew up in Kelso, so I've been down there to Kelso/Longview several times. It's kinda dumpy... No offense to people from Longview... As far as the weather goes, it's typical Northwest coastal weather.

My wife is from the Longview area(actually Castle Rock), saw the area a little bit had some interactions with the locals and what people have said seem to be true. The downtown area seems nice. BIL and SIL live there.

I live in Vancouver as well. I'd live in Ridgefield or Vancouver and commute.
