When I ran searches on the Money Magazine's Best Places to Live search engine (using my own criteria and weighting), Johnson City kept popping up for me. Maybe I'll finally get to visit one day, but I've not been there yet.

Beautiful part of the state!

A job opportunity I couldn't pass up brought us to Blount County seven months ago (a couple of hours west of Johnson City). We've really enjoyed living in Eastern Tennessee and would highly recommend it.

Tri Cities are beautiful. Not a whole lot to do but go hiking and outdoorsy stuff, but a nice area to live. There are certainly a lot worse places.

Spent alot of time in Erwin just south of JC...absolutely beautiful country

Beautiful location. Lots of snow at times. It is away from major cities, though, so if you have to have a huge "metropolitan" life style, you may not like.

100+ miles to Knoxville, which would be your closest "big" city. Ashville NC is closer and a nice town.

If you like Green and trees and hills, etc.
you will like it.

I know I don't miss the 100 summer days and I am 150 mi south of there.
