I have spent the last three days hunkered down in Crescent City watching it rain. On my way to North Bend hoping for some decent weather. When does the rainy season end in the Pacific NW?

We have had a little more rain than usual this Spring. Even in Bend (Central Oregon) we have had more than our share. We should have less and less each passing week. The summer has very little and is great.

In Washington, the official rainy season is November - April. However, in reality it's more like mid-October thru mid-June. Guaranteed sunny days don't start until July 4th or so and last thru Labor Day.

The weather should start clearing up by Memorial Day. Sometimes, we get 70 degree weather as early as April and snow as late as the first week of June. So, it's anybody's guess really...

Its getting better. I had no idea riding the dunes was such a HUGE deal! If any of you Ags or good Texans are in the area stop by and say Howdy. You are welcome to take my quad out on the dunes. I have installed my little flag and have my OR permit. You can ride out of my Camp Host site and ride about 10 miles of sand.

Glad you made the trip safely and hope you enjoy your time up here! We should start getting some pretty good stretches of beautiful weather, but still plenty of wet stuff to come over the next few weeks.

Hopefully I can make a trip down that way this summer - all my experience with the Oregon coast so far has been from Newport north.

I just got back from Texas and it is hot and muggy. The weather has been great since I got back home in Bend. I will be down around Gold Beach for a week in August and may come calling.

Had a great day here. Took the quad out for a run in the sand. Great fun. So much different than what we are used to on the jeep trails in CO and WY. Had a little hail this AM and made me a little homesick....not really! One of our campers took my wife out on a "sand rail" (dune buggy, just more expensive). Had a 280 hp turbo Subaru engine. Hit 52 mph on the sand. Said he has done 98 mph.

Guys, I really wanna spend my summer in Texas. But I can't stand heat more then 40 C, I just loose consciousness. Help me out please, what does your local broadcast say about that? How hot the summer might be there?

Try this:

It has been a wet, cool May and June, but I am hoping for better weather in July and Aug. We will be here until the end of Sept.

Buzzard,

My fiance and I are looking for a place to hang our hats for the 4th of July. We usually like to camp on the upper OR coast, but we might not mind making the drive down a little ways. Are there some good places to camp around there?

And have you seen any surfers?

I might go as far south as Crescent City, California to escape the weather. Man, this is the most dreary Spring we've had in a long, long, loooong time.........

I haven't seen any surfers yet. You surfers are a special breed to tolerate this cold water!

This area is full of the "Got Sand" nuts. This CG is set up just for people riding the dunes. No peace and quiet here! All of our sites are reservable and we have few of our 70 sites empty, even during the middle of the week.

There are a lot of campgrounds all along the coast here, State Parks, County Parks and Forest Service Campgrounds. The ones with access to the dunes are really popular and stay booked up.

You can go the the recreation.gov site and hunt for something along the coast. I have talked to WA people and they have complained about how crummy the weather has been. We are full of people from WA and CA.

When WA people start complaining about the weather, you know it's been pretty darn BAD!
