May I make an appeal? I live in Tennessee and parts of the state have been hit hard by floods. People are in dire need of help so I was hoping people around the nation can make donations to the Nashville Red Cross or other nonprofits. Please ask anyone and everyone if they can contribute. Thanks

Local stations with beneficial info/phone numbers:

There are alot of displaced pets as well. Those pets that have been found are at the Nashville Humane Society, so donations of pet food, kitty litter, etc are also needed.

WSMV (NBC channel 4) will be hosting a telethon Thursday. I know most of you will obviously not be able to see it, so i will try to paste the phone number to call in later. you can go to www.wsmv.com to get it as well I am sure. Here is the info I have:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- WSMV-TV Channel 4 will broadcast Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends on Thursday, May 6, in prime time from 7 to 10 p.m.
Other stars scheduled to appear include Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, Naomi Judd, Darius Rucker, Phil Vassar, Steve Wariner, Buddy Jewell, Lonestar, Bo Bice and Lee Roy Parnell.
Nashville and the surrounding middle Tennessee communities have been devastated by floodwaters after the area received 15 inches of rain within a 48-hour time period. Thousands of middle Tennesseans have been evacuated from their homes with many losing everything to the flood. Many of the victims do not have flood insurance, and the demands on relief agencies are stretched to the limit.
“These are our friends and family; we always take care of our friends and family,” said Meredith Senior Vice President and WSMV-TV General Manager Elden Hale Jr. “It’s unfortunate that we’re called upon to do this again for our neighbors, but we are very proud to have the ability to reach out to so many people with Nashville’s flood relief telethon.”
All proceeds from Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends will benefit The Salvation Army, The Red Cross and The Second Harvest Food Bank.
Channel 4 is unable to accommodate a live audience at the station. The only way to see the telethon is on Channel 4 and WSMV.com.

Thanks for posting this info. My parents got 16 inches of rain, 70 miles west of Nashville. It's devastating.

I wish I could be home right now helping with the clean-up.

Yep, everyone's fine and luckily they didn't have any damage other than lots of gravel in the yard. Thanks for asking! The school my mom teaches at received enough damage that they have canceled school for the remainder of the semester. Lucky kids

I still can't believe how widespread the damage is. Memphis to Nashville and all points in between....

Nice!! I never even thought to post about this out here. Thanks to everyone who may have given! Still so many people displaced, and it'll be months before this city is 100% again.

But, we're open for business! CMA Fest and Bonnaroo numbers are evidence of that! But if you're looking for a vacation spot, come on out... its a great way to support and help with the rebuilding of the city.
