Potential job opening there with my company. I have family in Northern Idaho so I know outdoor wise is is awesome, from what I have been reading about it though in citydata.com it sounds like a pretty liberal/granola type town, sort of like Boulder. Has anyone been there? Thoughts? I grew up in Austin so it would take a lot to surprise me(Leslie homeless transvestite)

It is liberal and greeeeeen, but is one of the coolest cities I have ever been to. I have a feeling that the cost of living is high, but the beauty of the area and relative close vicinity of some of the most beautiful places in the country would seal the deal for me.

P.S. I didn't witness any of the Austin style homeless/weirdos. Just a lot of dead-head types. Great places to eat from what I noticed. Univ. of Montana has a nice campus as well right on the river.

If you think Austin is normal then you will be fine. Overall it does rank right up there with Boulder as far as a liberal haven. If you do move there you should get some Moosedrool, damn good beer. I would jump at the chance to live in or near the Missoula area.

If you don't end up taking the job then let me know what it is that you do and the name of your company. I wouldn't mind moving to Montana. I could use some cooler summers!

I lived up there one summer, and the temps for two weeks were over 100 degrees. To make matters worse, no one has A/C up there. Those two weeks really sucked.
