Just graduated and moved to OKC for a job. Any Ags with some good advice on the hotspots of this city (food, bar, local attracctions, etc.)? The fiancee is in Houston so I am looking at what OKC has to offer.

What part of the city are you in? Bricktown always has decent restaurants and bars but there are probably good things around where you live too. There is an Ag happy hour next Thursday if you are interested too.

I live in Warr Acres/Bethany and really haven't found anything to do there. Wish I could make the Happy Hour but I work for an oil company and will be in the field and won't be able to make it. Is there a Aggie network website for OKC? Thanks for the reply.

A lot does depend on where you are living but here are some ideas:

In Norman, on Campus Corner, Victoria's Pasta Shop is a favorite. The Mont on Porter & Boyd has a huge selection of drinks - well known.

Not much in Moore except a little German place off Sooner Rd.

In NW OKC, Lakeside Seafood is nice and you can eat out on the patio next to Lake Hefner. A fantastic Italian place called Bellini's is on Penn and 36th, just in front of the Waterford Hotel. Of course the Cheesecake Factory is at Penn Square Mall.

A popular area is on Western, near 63rd. Musashi's is a favorite hibachi Japanese place and there is excellent sushi across the street. (can't remember the name) VZD's right there on Western is popular. Ironstar on 63rd is not too bad.

I highly recommend Cheever's and the Paseo Grill. FANTASTIC food - great date nights. They are in/near the Paseo District just north of 23rd St.

Downtown area - Cattleman's is a must if you like steak. It is historic and near the stockyards. Nonna's is great (pricey thought) in bricktown. Park Ave. grill at the Skirvin hotel or for organic/ecclectic, try The Sage in the Deep Deuce.

Edmond is full of little holes in the wall. There is the Fish Market (it's a res.) off 15th Street that is very popular. Otherwise, there are lots of little corner places that are great.

Hope some of that helps. Good luck.

Forgot to add:

Bar's - The Purple Bar above Nonna's in bricktown and the Red Piano Bar at the Skirvin Hotel are the two most popular bars for adults (not college age kids). The Mont is popular in Norman right of campus. Louie's is popular in Norman among adults. Coach's and Bricktown Brewery are very popular with guys for sports, etc. Harry Hudson's is a smoky, pool-hall that is popular. Depends on what you want from it.

As for entertainment, depends on what you are looking for. As for the arts, the Museum of Art is not too bad. There are some good Broadway shows that come to the civic center. Also, look at Rose State, a lot of really great out of town performances are done there. If you like sports, there are soccer leagues in NW OKC, indoor and outdoor. Look at what they are doing on the river too off Bricktown. They have rock climbing, rowing, sailboating, etc. If you are looking for lake activities, your best bet is to go out of town to Grand or Eufala. There is horseriding out at Stanley Draper (not safe place at night).

Go to the Moore Warren Theater is you like movies. You can have balcony seats with drinks and food served for those movies. State Fairgrounds always has activities. Shakespeare in the Park jumps b/t Edmond, Norman, and Botanical Gardens.

If you are looking for something more specific, let me know and I will do what I can. In the meantime, hope this helps some.
