What is the national perception of this institution of higher education?

I may be applying for a job there.

I don't know about the national perception, but it seems like a solid school. Do you already live in Denver?

If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend moving to Denver. It's an awesome place to live.

Yes. I've been here 9 months, and I plan on being here for good. I was in Houston for 5 years before moving to Denver, and it's a completely different world here. The weather, outdoor activities, scenery, and people are amazing.

cool. Well, if by some miracle I get this job, then I'll have to hit you up for some advice. I won't know anything until winter.

I'd be looking to rent at first and then look for a house for my family and I. Just looking at google maps, it looks like southwest of the city gets rural faster. I wouldn't mind finding an area that isn't too far out to commute, but allows us some room for 3 young boys to run around/shoot bb guns, etc.

I'm pretty sold on Denver myself. I'd hate to leave Texas, but if it's necessary, Denver looks like a good choice.

For some reason, Texans seem to have a tough time moving to another state. It took me a while, but I'm glad I finally realized there are much nicer places to live. I think that for many, if you move to a nice place, the only things worth missing in Texas are family/friends and food.

I'll add that almost all of my Denver friends, that are ex-Texans, have no desire to go back. If you get the chance, this is a great place to live.

Ditto that! I have lived in Salt Lake City, UT now for 8 years and that is the way I have felt. I love the mountains (snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, etc.), the weather! (hot days, but cool nights in the summer), and the festival/live music scene here.

I miss family/friends and food in Texas. Though, over the years, I've really found substitutes for all the food I miss most- found great Mexican and BBQ. The only thing that can not be duplicated is Freebirds!

I grew up in Littleton (south suburb of Denver). I've lived in Green Bay, Austin, CS, and El Paso. I've had extended visits to San Francisco, Seattle, Delaware, Florida, Canada, Okinawa and Germany. I say this only to point out that I have been around. I know Denver is "home" for me and I might be a little biased, but really, for what Colorado offers there are few places on the face of the earth that can match it. If you have any desire to partake in outdoor activities you should jump at any opportunity to move anywhere along the front range! Good luck to you.

How easy is it to find a job in the greater Denver area? I'm still in CS (long out of school) and may be moving to Colorado w/ my significant other when she starts grad. school. I talked to a lady from the Northern Colorado A&M Club (the Denver club must be too pretentious to email me back - it's been six weeks) said that jobs are extremely difficult to come by because no one wants to leave the area, so they take jobs they're overqualified for.

Please shed a ray of sunshine on my otherwise dismal perception of the job market up there...

The Denver A&M Club is large and helpful. I'd pay the $50 to have access to the online Aggie database, and start emailing Ags around Denver that work in the industry that you're in. This really helped me out, and put me in touch with many great Aggies. Denver is one of the most educated cities in the country, and it is a very desirable place to live.... so jobs can be a bit tough at times. It is much easier to find jobs once you live here, or at the least with a Denver-area address on your resume.

AggieBarStool - I'm the 2010 President of the Denver A&M Club and I'm usually pretty good about replying - send me a PM and I'll see how we can help you.

Yes, it's at the Fainting Goat on Broadway. I'll be watching the game from a suite at Boone Picken$ Stadium.
