Visiting SLC for the first time this weekend. Hit Gracie's last night. Great place! What's up with the mandatory food purchase with alcohol? Darn Mormons

Where did you run into that? I have only dealt with the mandatory food purchase once or twice but I think it has something to do with the type of license a place has...

Yep, it has to do with the type of license a bar has. Most bars that I go to in downtown SLC (BeerHive, the Bayou, Poplar Street Pub) do not require any food purchases b/c of their type of license. I believe restaurants/pubs that have food as their primary source of business, require some type of food purchase for alcohol (can usually just be chips & dip or something simple).

Hey, it's all changing for the better anyway! No more private clubs. Lots of bars downtown. I'll try to make the happy hour!

You should definitely make the Happy Hour! Should be a fun time. Love the Beer Hive and Bayou. I have been wanting to check out Poplar - any particularly good night to hit it?
