i'm a teacher looking to move after this school year "just because"... anyone have any school districts in the denver area they would either recommend or warn against?

Don't know anything about Denver school districts, but if you head south, Colorado Springs District 20 is pretty good.

Look in Greenwood Village and Centennial south of Denver.

Also look in Erie Colorado or Longmont. Much easier to afford living and you are only 2 minutes north of Denver

Good luck with your move, but a lot of districts, including mine, continue to have to cut and cut. Before you make a decision, check on jobs, because what jobs there will be will be very competitive with lots of applicants. Best districts in the Denver region are Jeffco to the west, Colorado Spings area and Douglas County to the south, Poudre, Thompson, Adams 12, Boulder Valley, St. Vrain to the north, and Highlands Ranch and others in the SW Metro area.

Let's go ski-man!

I agree with ski-man, check on the jobs. My wife and I moved to Denver 6 months ago and it has been a ***** trying to get her a job or even licensed (she's an Aggie as well). The BofE is slow playing all out of state applications so be wary of that.

Other than that stay south as that's where all the nicer areas are

I live here and recommend it. If you’re coming from a Texas metro, I would think the schools here would be an upgrade. There is little crime here, and there really aren’t many bad areas (parts of Aurora and Thornton).

I have to disagree here. I have no idea why anyone would rather live in Erie or Longmont, instead of Denver. Denver is not that expensive; it’s just that TX is ridiculously cheap (you get what you pay for).

While I prefer the southern burbs over the northern ones, there are many nice areas north and west. I really would like to live within a couple miles of downtown, but may have to settle for Lone Tree/Highlands Ranch if my wife doesn’t give in.

Cherry Creek and Douglas County are pretty decent districts.

OasisMan, I'm in Greeley too!

I moved from Hereford to Greeley about 15 years ago. I have to say that nothing smells worse than Deaf Smith County.
