Ags, the wife and I have been up here in Chicago for about six months. She has a job (thank God), but I have not been so lucky. (you may have seen my posts on the other forums back then).

Anyway, anyone have any job connections/help/thoughts/ideas?

Seriously, anything is help--thoughts/suggestions/ridicule, whatever. Thanks guys. Gig 'em.

Well, I practiced commercial litigation for about six years, but will be/am open to anything.

This has made me regret every single day the decision to major in political science rather than finance/marketing/mgmt/buad etc. I foolishly thought, "well, that's our 'pre-law' major, so I need to go that way," while, three years later, I see that ANY major can go to law school.

Work while practicing: at first, almost 100% insurance defense/coverage litigation, with the occasional employment case. The last 3.5 years saw my focus switch to all commercial/corporate litigation and employment litigation. Did compliance and "everything else" for one of our clients, a large fast food companyWorked with a wide variation of businesses as clients, so I got exposure to a number of fields.

That's no good. I just graduated law school in May and I know quite a few unemployed lawyers in Chicago. I do know a couple of people that have had short term success with legal temp agencies there. Off the top of my head, one of them was Hudson Legal. I don't know what law school you went to, but if the career services people there offer you lifetime assistance you might want to see if they will give you access to the BYU collegiate job bank. You can go through there and look at all the job postings that the law schools around Chicago have posted. A lot of the jobs in those listings are usually for attorneys with experience, so you could get lucky there.

thanks, aggiespartan.

Yeah, originally, I was looking to do something outside of law, but unfortunately, the employers must not think I'm capable of anything but practicing.

Any help you can give is appreciated.

I'll pm my e-mail.
