Yes, I know it is cold, but anyone lived up there? I have a potential opening with my company I am considering. I have lived in Alaska for a few years so the cold will not bother me. Looking for a smaller town with a slower pace of life to raise my kids.

Just be sure to stay away from wood chippers and you should be fine.

I live in South Dakota, but the climates are roughly the same. It is cold from Oct -Apr, but I've come to love the winter. My kids love it as well. I've heard good things about Fargo...not too big but a hub city for that part of the world so everything you need is there. For a liitle more variety, Minneapolis is only a few hours away. Only negative I've heard is that the Red River (yes, there's another one) floods quite often in the spring, so be careful when looking for a place to live.
