I'm up here for school right now. Any interest in getting a group together for game-watching parties this fall?

I'm a Tulsan for the time being. I mostly hang out with Sooners and Pokes. What school are you going to?

I actually like it. Compared to the big cities in Texas I've lived, it does have some notable drawbacks like:

lack of "cultural" activities
fewer young, single folks
not much of a nightlife
no sports teams other than OU/OSU
crappy roads

But, I think the good outweighs the bad. It's a nice place to live.

Not much. There's a place called Sutures over at 71st and Yale (kind of sucks). I've not gone to the Baker Street Pub and Grill, but it's always crowded and loud when I go to the Gold's Gym next door to it. You might check that out.

Any place showing the game here? I know there's an aggie that owns an outback restaurant. Wonder if he's got it.

I'm not sure. I heard the price tag to get the game was 40 bones...not sure how many people will jump at that price.

i thought you already did add me. Last email I got was about a watch party for the SMU game at BWW

Oops, sorry. Your previous post was asking about if anyone ever got together and I had assumed you hadn't been added to the list serv yet.

Guess there hasn't been anything going on with the Tulsa club recently.

Welcome to Tulsa petro, where are you going to be?

I'm not sure yet, I'll have temporary housing at some apartments by the river off the Creek Turnpike. We'd like to end up in midtown or around ORU. That could change tho, we've spent a grand total of 3 days in Tulsa before I accepted the job.
OldArmy1606

So what's going on? Haven't heard anything about the A&M club doing anything lately. No football watching?

There hasn't been any football watching parties recently. I'd be up for doing a Happy Hour the week after Thanksgiving, if anyone is interested.

I'd be up for it if I wasn't working nights that week.

I've been marooned in Tulsa for a two weeks while we try to finalize an adoption. I like the town a lot but it isn't home.
OldArmy1606

definitely not home. I'm up for whatever. But I get off work at 8pm. 12 hour shifts.

I have been up here in Tulsa for a little over 3 years. I have not been active in the local A&M club mostly to not ever having time when they hold events. I hope now that things are settling down some I will have more time to go out and meet other Ags up here. As for Tulsa, I like it - its a bit small for my tastes, but over all its a nice town. We picked to move up here because we felt the size of the city made for a good place to raise a family.

I'm moving to Tulsa in a couple of weeks (just got offered an internship there), and was wondering about some good apartments to check out. Something low price but still a good place. I only need 1 bed/1 bath, as I don't need a whole lot to get by, plus I won't be at the apartment a whole lot. Anyway, just wanting some recommendations on some places to check out.

So far there was a couple times that I got some emails from the group, but mostly its been quite. I think I got something about meeting up to watch the first game or two and then after that... nothing.

As for apartments and where to look, kinda depends on where you'll be working...

I got an internship with the Tulsa Drillers. So I'll be at ONEOK Field everyday. Kind of the north part of downtown, I imagine. I start January 3rd, so I need to find something real soon.

Or maybe some places or areas to definitely avoid/stay away from living at would be helpful...

Yup, ONEOK is right down the street from my office - north side of downtown in the Brady Arts District. Not sure I know of any place quick or fast to get, but I would avoid looking to the north. North Tulsa is not a good area. We had an intern over the summer that lived just across the river, but once again - I would be careful heading that way (he lived at one of the few nice places over there). Best bet would be to try and find something in Brookside (might be too pricey down there). Anyway - I would suggest to look south of downtown, that is going to be where the better areas are.

Howdy!

The Tulsa A&M Club is having a game watching party this Saturday at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Broken Arrow. The game starts at 11AM, which coincidentally is the same time BWW opens. The address is:

1511 North 20th Street
Broken Arrow, OK 74012

Hope to see you there!

Good to see everyone there last night. After some discussion, I've created a facebook group for the club. Over time we might send invites out that way. Check us out!

Thumbs up, or thumbs down for Oklahoma City? Anyone live(d) there that can give me the positives and negatives? I'm going for a second job interview there and will most likely get an offer. I haven't had a chance to see too much of the city...they say Edmond is really nice.

I like OKC just fine. Feels like a big city with the stuff to do but doesn't have the problems getting around like a big city. I live in Edmond and really like it.
