I'm up here for the weekend on a layover and trying to get a feel for things. My goal is to work in NYC after graduation but I'd like to know what people who live in the city think of it?

Any specific questions? The downside is it doesn't have any of the great things that Texas has. It is a fun place to live, but it is expensive as hell.

I lived in NYC (Manhattan) for eight years. Before I moved there, a coworker that lived there told me the following: It's a great place to live if you're right out of college w/o any money OR if you're a bit older and you have ALOT of money. Anything in between suks b/c of the expense. Don't move there unless you want to work hard and play hard and you don't mind living in Hoboken or having roommates in a cramped apt in the city. It's a great place for people in their 20's if you're outgoing and want the action.
