Any Ags around there? We are planning on a very quick move and need to find a place fast. Working with a realtor, but curious if there are suggestions. Wife and 2 kids under 3 and 60 lb. dog. Probably renting for now given our short timeframe.

Nobody? Realtors have rental listings, but once they hear you're not interested in buying for two years, they're dropping like flies (makes not sense to me). We've already gone through two realtors who are really good for about a 48 hour period and then fall off the face of the earth. How else can you rent a place with young children sight unseen?

Hi Nettled. My wife and I moved here (Columbia) 2 weeks ago from DC. It is a strange place for rentals. I thought it would be relatively easy as it is a college town, but that just wasn't the case.

We used a realtor (Carol Denninghoff). I would probably stay away from the property management groups...it looks like they mostly deal with college students and are slum lords. You might want to stay more SWish. Northeast is apparently pretty decent though.

I won't be in town next week but otherwise can run by a house to let you know general feel for the area.

What area will you be working in? Not that there is much a commute anywhere I'd rent near it, but away from college apartments. I'd buy a house off west broadway or nifong/forum area personally. Forum might have some decent apartments. The links are nice if you like golf

Thanks, ags! We went with our backup plan - all the houses we were looking at were renting quicker than we could get a realtor to call us back.

So, we went with a 4 bedroom condo that's family-friendly on the NorthEast side of town. We were able to tour it while we were in town on July 3rd. Not much to brag about, but we can be comfortable while the house in Wisconsin sells and then start looking for house. I'd like to have a larger down payment, that's why I'd like to wait for teh WI house to sell (crossing fingers).

I'll be working at the University. Looks like we'll be making the trip around August 1st.
