Is it a nice place to live? What's the weather like? Is it more of a conservative city, liberal city, or in between? I have never lived outside of Texas and LOVE Texas but may have a good opportunity to relocate my family there and wondered if anyone had any insight on the area.

Lived there five years. Awesome climate, great golf courses, UNC, Duke, NC State all close proximity. Good high schools, both my kids graduated from Leesville Road high school. Friendly people but a lot of relocated / retired folks from NE part of country. Restaurants ok, mostly chains. You'll miss the TexMex. Would live there again

We moved to the triangle from CS about 3 months ago and love it. So far we're enjoying the heck of seasons (I'd forgotten what fall was) and being 2 hours from the mountains one way and the ocean the other. There are also several great state parks in the area if that's your thing. There's also great access to shopping, good food (except the BBQ and no tex-mex), and tons of great local breweries.

There is an active A&M club here (triangle club) and they're on Facebook - might be another good source for info on Raleigh specifically.

Edit to say we live in Durham...
