Breakfast is a tough one (we usually do it at home). There's a Waffle House on Highway 17 just south of downtown but that's not really a destination if you already live where there are plenty of Waffle Houses around.

Some solid choices are:
Hominy Grill or Poogan's Porch, Toast, and The Bake House.

This one is the original and better than their other location.

There are enough food trucks around downtown if you're into that sort of thing. The wife knows more about those so I'd have to ask her.

I've heard of Hominy but the other's didn't pop up on my radar. Sounds good. And food trucks? Oh we are food truck rodeo riders, sounds good. I assume they are downtown in the Market area on Saturdays right?

I'm not sure about the market area - with all the tourists there and people looking for parking (hint: try a few blocks farther away, up the road nearest to the east end of downtown) I kind of doubt it. They're all over the place though... I'd go here

Poogan's is good. S.N.O.B is good too.

Really have not had a bad meal though I was not impressed with the MicroBrew on E.Bay.

Jacks' Cosmic Dogs towards Folly Beach.

Bowens Island is good, though it looks rough when you drive up. Only open evenings. Great oysters.

Love Charleston, though too hot for me between Memorial day and Labor day.

Paige's Okra Grill in Mt Pleasant.

The food trucks usually hang at Marion Square, no room for them in the Market area.

Reds. Ice. House.
