Flying into LAX - Renting a convertible for the 30th B-day...checking out LA site and driving up the coast to Santa Barbara. Staying one night there...going wine tasting and renting bikes to ride around in the wine country- hopefully able to drive that evening to maybe Los Osos? Wanting suggestions on this. Day 3 Driving up Hwy 1 and seeing the sites at Monterrey/Carmel/ Pebble and heading into SF. I have been to SF once before. Needing a good dinner place for Sat night and maybe suggestions on places to stay in SF. Sunday doing a wine tour to Napa- probably doing a limo through Groupon- 6 hour ride with 8 people max. Monday playing golf and red eye out. Any local knowledge would be great. This is 30th Bday trip for me and my bestie.

And do the Grand Rooms tour. It's just a little bit impressive.

Another stop is Morro Rock on Morro Bay. There's a place called "Lil Hut, Fish & Chips" you order at a window on the outside. Very tasty when I was last there 12 years ago. Then drive over to the rock and watch the surf. The flying rats (sea gulls) are very aggressive so do not turn your back on your food.

As for SF, it's such a major city that where to stay depends on what you want to do. It's also incredibly expensive and if you stay downtown putting your car in the hotel garage will also cost a grip. Just an FYI.

For the vineyards, stay away from the big tourist traps and try to find vinters making the types of wine you like the most.

Best tri tip I ever had was at the little town grocery store there in Los Olivos. Only available on the weekends iirc. If you're into beer check out Barrelworks at Firestone in Buellton.
