Any Ags live in Lafayette? Moving there for work in a few months and trying to get an idea of better parts of town to live.

I've been living in Lafayette for a little over two years now since I graduated. If you're a young professional looking for an apartment, I'd suggest living along Kaliste Saloom (pronounced "Cali" btw) around Ambassador Caffery and Camelia. Traffic in the morning and afternoon is surprisingly bad in many spots all over town. I lived in a nice apartment behind the mall my first year I enjoyed the complex but a lot of times it was a hassle to get home and to work. And most of the places i hung out were really close to Kaliste anyway.

If you're looking into houses, cost whys probably good to explore looking into Youngsville and Broussard area. Technically they're separate towns but they're only like 5 min away.

Where are you going to work? Always looking for Ags in the area. If you have any more questions I'd be happy to fill you in.

Hmmm. I lived near that road for 10 years and pronounce it like cauliflower, not like California.
Maybe that's what you meant?

To each their own. Maybe I should have specified more, the "ste" is silent. Maybe that's obvious to some but not to Texas kid used to seeing spanish...

Good deal, thanks for the feedback. My office will be in Scott, which looks to be the west side of town. Still working through the final details since it's a cross country move but hoping to be in the area in June/July. Is there a local A&M club that does happy hours?

If you're working in Scott, living near the mall wouldn't be bad. Most parts of town are pretty nice. I would just avoid the north part of town toward the interstate and some parts have a heavier student population mainly toward ULL and the Cajun Dome.

There is a local A&M Club that meets for lunch on the first Monday of the month and raises scholarships for local students. They occasionally meet for games mainly just LSU and bowl games. And usually always at the same restaurant which is kind of disappointing because there are so many good places to eat and drink in Lafayette. Mainly draws more of an older crowd.

I usually go when I'm in town but I work rotational schedule so I'm out of town quite a bit.

If you're going to work in Scott, you can check out living in Carencro, too. It's siginificantly cheaper to live in Carencro, and you can take University/Mills/Gloria Switch to avoid traffic - about 5-10 minute drive.
