Vacationing in Denver soon, but apparently a major event going on downtown the night we are staying- so hotels downtown are super expensive that night.

Any suggestions on other parts of Denver/surrounding areas that still have attractions to see for one evening or is it all pretty much downtown or bust?

Depending on how far you are willing to drive:
Boulder, golden, head up north to Longmont, loveland or Fort Collins.
Or stay in tech center just 10 miles or so from downtown, cherry creek area, wash park area.

What are you looking to do?

Cherry Creek is where you want to stay, but it may be a bit pricy. It's one of the best areas of Denver. Great dining, shopping, and a couple good bars.

DTC if you want to go cheaper; I stayed at a nice hotel there (Hyatt?) a few years ago for $39 on Priceline "name your price".... the listed rate was $225.

I stayed at a Hyatt Place in DTC for around $45 a night via hotwire.com a couple of years ago. Quality was about like a Hilton Garden Inn or so, a really good deal.

Cherry Creek.

DTC will suck for one night.
