Planning a trip for my wife and I to Napa Valley late this fall, any recommendations on a resort or other hotel to stay at in the area?

My wife and I stayed at Solage Calistoga for our 20th anniversary. Pricey but nice.

Tell us more--how many days, what attractions are you interested in, budget?

It's a 4 day trip, and it's basically just to hit as many wineries as possible.

I'm thinking a couple days in Yountville and a couple days at the Solage place you mentioned, I wasjust looking at that actually. That way we can do a day and a half tour in Napa Valley and a day touring Russian River Valley in Sonoma county. Is that realistic?

We stayed here in Napa. It was amazing and we were the only people in this 10,000 sq/ft house. And they even had a salt water pool outback that wasn't advertised.

Make sure to hit at least one of Thomas Keller's restaurants in Napa Valley.

Derelict, are those people normally not home or was it just a special occassion that they were gone and y'all had the home to yourselves?

They live in the house separate from everything else. They leave you along so you barely know they are there. They were very nice hosts and the location was amazing. This place will begin to fill up very fast once word gets out there. The price has already gone up from when we stayed there back in August. They will also being doing some upgrades to the place as they were affected by the earthquake last year. They even let our friends come over who are winemakers to do a tasting there. Very nice people. There are multiple bedrooms all with great views. Other people could be staying there in the other rooms it just depends on who books it.
