I got a proposal from a bookkeeper for a small amount of activity that is 10-20 transactions per month. It includes recording into GL and preparing financial statements, but no tax prep. What is a good going rate?

You could likely get a PPA nerd at Mays Business School to do this for a low price
Check out pilot.com or acuity.co for some level setting on prices (though they are lower than a local firm will be)
Getting bad quality work can really screw you up for a while, so its probably worth it to do it right.
Any reason you wouldn't do it yourself? Feels pretty low volume.

One of the non-profits I'm on the board uses Better Bookkeepers out of The Woodlands. They charge less than $1000 per month for complete bookkeeping & reporting services.

Been doing it it myself, but it is low volume among many low volumes, so just need to simplify life a bit.
