I'm not a day trader but I can see a situation where I might want to take early exits on enough swing trades in a 3-day window where I might cross the threshold? What are the implications/requirements of being classified a "day trader"?

If you have over $25,000 in your account, you may look at enabling trading on margin to avoid a freeriding violation.
