Are they still the rage? Figure it looks like a stable place to stash cash for the time being?

Can I buy through online brokerage or go through the gov site?

I buy them through Vanguard and it's very easy. Wouldn't mess with Treasury Direct on these.

That said, the rate fell off quite a bit during the past few weeks, and you can currently do better in some CDs, which are safe as long as you're investing under $250,000. So I'd shop around a bit before going into T bills at the moment.

Yeah, what Ag06Law said. You can probably get some better rates on brokerage CDs right now.

Good call. Just found a 1 year non callable 5.422% CD through Charles Schwab bank. Going to get all over that!

I buy through Treasury Direct with no issue. But agree with CDs right now.

So have to look at actual return post tax to compare.

T bills are exempt from state taxes, not federal. So yes, a consideration if you live in states with an income tax.
